Dr. Einstein’s Medical Mystery
This is a workshop aimed at Key Stage 3 students, age 11-14. It is designed for groups of up to 36 students working in groups of four. The topics included in the workshop are quantum cryptography, nanotechnology and spectroscopy. The story of the workshop centres on the students acting as medical detectives who decode a medical report, follow the instructions to complete a smell test, and follow the instructions to complete a building challenge.
There are four documents associated with Dr Einstein's Medical Mystery:
- Medical Mystery Script
- Risk Guidelines
- "Smell Test" worksheet
- Cipher worksheet

Amazing Space!
The key stage 4 workshop is called Amazing Space! and is aimed at Key Stage 4, age 14-16 years. It is designed for groups of up to 34 students working in pairs. The topics included are Dark Matter and the fate of the Universe, the Higgs Particle and the search for planets. In the workshops the students follow in the footsteps of scientists and learn the techniques they use to understand the Universe.
There are three documents associated with Amazing Space!:
- Script
- Risk Guidelines
- Worksheets

Einstein Award
Which physicist has made the most important contribution to science? In these lessons students learn about the most significant advancements in science and the people who made them.
Using the ‘Move over Einstein: the next generation is here!’ exhibition, as well as classroom resources, groups of students compete for their chosen scientist to win the Einstein Award for outstanding contribution to physics. Suitable for Key Stages 3, 4 and post-16, this cross curricular activity covers science, history and English.
The pdf document includes the pre-, visit and post-visit lesson plans.

Design-a-game
What is the design process and how can it help design a board game? In these lessons the students are presented with a problem and a design brief and are taken through the steps to design a game which is then evaluated by the class.
Students have the chance to use knowledge gained at the ‘Move over Einstein: the next generation is here!’ exhibition as well as creative skills to convey some complicated ideas in this fun format. Suitable for key Stage 3 this cross curricular activity covers design and technology, science, IT and PSHE.
The pdf document includes the pre-, visit and post-visit lesson plans.

Public Service Announcements
How does the media promote a message? In this lesson students think critically about how advertisements are used to sell products and how public service announcements are used to sell ideas.
Using Move over Einstein as a source of information and inspiration, students create their own public service announcement on an emerging and exciting area of physics.
Suitable for Key Stage 3 or 4 students, this cross curricular activity covers science, media skills, visual arts and citizenship.

Nanotechnology Debate
How small is small? What is nanotechnology and what is the debate all about?
In this lesson students learn the scientific basis of nanotechnology and use the Move over Einstein exhibition as resource for learning about specific applications and different viewpoints on the development of the technology.
Students have the chance to develop and express their views on a key issue in science through active participation in a nanotechnology debate.
Suitable for Key Stage 3 or 4 students, this cross curricular activity covers science and citizenship while developing research, debating and presentation skills.

Family Groups
Dr. Einstein’s Medical Mystery (Family) is specially tailored for family groups visiting the centre. The workshop is designed for up to six family groups of up to five participants. The topics included in the workshop are quantum cryptography, nanotechnology and spectroscopy. The workshop follows the same story as the Key Stage 3 workshop, but the script and presentation are adapted for a family audience.
- Medical Mystery script (family version)
- Risk guidelines
- laminated instruction sheets
- "Smell Test" worksheet
- Cipher and key worksheets

Science Notes
Read the Science Notes accompanying the exhibition - brush up on the physics behind Move Over Einstein!
There are six Science Notes documents for each of the exhibits:
- Dark Matter
- Higgs Particle
- Exoplanets
- Quantum Cryptography
- Building a supernose
- Chemical Carriers
