here are the winning posters from July's Physics Across the World poster competition. Click on the images for full size versions.

First-prize poster in the 8-12 category, by Nikita Herfet-Jones, from Park School in Bournemouth, UK. Her poster shows how physics answers questions about natural phenomena, such as 'Why is the sun hot?', ‘Why are rainbows colourful?', and 'Why do dew drops appear overnight?'

Poster entitled 'Physics is Everywhere' by Sophie Jewsbury of Little Chalfont Primary School in Buckinghamshire, UK. Sophie won second-prize in the 8 to 12 category. The poster shows how physics is literally everywhere by depicting the sun, moon, stars, rockets, light bulbs, parachutes and thunder storms.

The other first-prize winning poster in the 13-16 group, by Asma Mimouni of the Sirius Astronomy Association in Algeria. This poster shows the structure of the atom surrounded by pictures including a galaxy, an aerial photograph of CERN in Geneva, particle tracks, and Einstein on a bicycle.

This poster, entitled 'See the physics around us', is by Liu Xinyi of the Nanyang Girls' High School in Singapore. It won second prize in the 13-16 group and takes optics as its theme. The poster depicts camera lenses, binoculars, telescopes, a magnifying glass, and convex and concave lenses.

Runner-up poster in the 13-16 category by Lyal Moskovitch of Greengates School in Interlomas, Mexico. The poster shows a prism splitting a beam of white light into different colours, interspersed with pictures showing how light affects our lives.
